Who are the Lions?
Eighteen dedicated and visionary men organized the Florence Lions Club in 1953. From its inception, the club has been an active organization meeting the needs of our community.
Annually, Lions Club members screen the eyes of hundreds of students in Florence, Burlington and Union schools. The parents of the students who fail the screening are notified for professional evaluation. Florence Lions Club provides financial aid to the families who cannot afford the necessary eye examinations, eye glasses, eye surgery, or visual aids.
Each year, hundreds of families in need receive necessary eye care from the Florence Lions Club. Florence Lions Club also supports many eyesight related and handicap programs such as KY Lions Eye Foundation & Research Institute, Leader Dog for the Blind, KY Lions Blind Youth Camp, Redwood School for Handicapped Children, NKU Visually Impaired Student Scholarship, Special Olympics, Radio Reading Services for the Blind and many more worthy programs.
How we are able to help?
Through fundraisers like our annual golf tournament, annual White Cane Drive and donations from individuals and corporations, the Florence Lions Club is able to assist many families. The Florence Lions Club is a nonprofit organization with a 501-C-3 classification which makes all donations tax deductible.
